Hybrid systems for renewable energy

On February 4, 2020, Pedro Pérez Gabriel (CEO-Instra) held a paper on self-consumption with renewables and Smart Grid at the Seminar on Marine Renewable Energies, held in Vigo.

The project proposes a hybrid system of renewable energy generation to make the Port of Vigo self-sufficient and with zero emissions in terms of the demand for electrical energy. Consider the port as a "Prosumer" in the new conditions of the electricity market that the EU directive 944/2019 on common standards for the internal electricity market poses. This means that it is not only a consumer but also an energy producer.

Consider the installation of wind energy (> 1 MW), photovoltaic energy (> 2 MW), battery storage, all managed with different “Smart Grid” technologies, to enable an adequate integration into the current electricity network and thereby achieve the objectives of energy self-sufficiency.

The project aims to make progress in implementing a model of regenerative management of the activities of the port beyond sustainability. It would have positive impacts on the socio-economic environment and promote cutting-edge technologies such as smart energy networks and the certification of CO2 emissions with blockchain (Ithium 1000 by Godenigma) that develop high-value activities and skilled jobs.
