Instra Ingenieros develops the BREEAM Bespoke certification of the sustainable and regenerative SuitesNature resort in Pontevedra.
With BREEAM Bespoke, the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) sustainability assessment and certification scheme is extended to particularly unique new buildings such as this innovative SuitesNature resort.
SuitesNature, a company that received the first award in the first edition of the Tourism Project Accelerator (Turislab) launched by the Xunta de Galicia in 2021, has chosen Galicia to create this resort of responsible, sustainable and hyper-connected cabins at the foot of the Xacobea Route of the Camino de Santiago.
The tourist complex, located on a plot of 11,800 m2 in Lusquiños (Tomeza), will be the first sustainable resort in the province of Pontevedra. It will have cabins, which will maintain the traditional Galician structure, and an EcoHotel that will house suites with terrace and common areas. The facilities will allow each traveller to enjoy a personalised experience, obtaining information at all times regarding their consumption through energy management software.
Jorge Martínez Sabio, CEO of SuitesNature and promoter of the project, also explains that it will generate direct and indirect jobs in Galicia, help boost economic growth and promote the consumption of local products.
This project is not only a challenge, as it is a certification adapted ad hoc to the complex, but it will also allow to value the Galician heritage and culture; integrating the architectural tradition in its design, using sustainable materials in its construction and promoting a sustainable mobility of the guests.
A new innovative milestone in the portfolio of sustainable certifications carried out by Instra Ingenieros, after having certified in the design phase the first BREEAM house in Galicia with a "Very Good" sustainability rating.
