Instra Ingenieros has once again participated in the annual meeting of BREEAM® Assessors (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) which, in this edition, was held in Barcelona.
The BREEAM® methodology (adapted to the language, regulations and construction practice of Spain in 2010) is the most technically advanced and leading method for assessing and certifying sustainability in building construction worldwide, with more than 591,000 buildings certified in 90 countries since its first version in 1990.
At Instra Ingenieros we have had experts in this methodology since 2011, with BREEAM® accredited assessors on staff under the "New Construction", "Housing" and "In Use" schemes. BREEAM® accredited assessors are the only professionals officially recognised to carry out assessment processes according to its sustainable construction methodology. The long experience of our assessors gives them extensive experience in the implementation of sustainable construction criteria, both in their own projects and those of third parties, having worked on a wide variety of buildings of great complexity.
Nowadays, the BREEAM® methodology has become an essential tool for certifying the sustainability of a building and is the most widely chosen option for accrediting the sustainability credentials of a building to third parties after passing a rigorous sustainability test in ten categories that go far beyond energy and regulations.
The key drivers of this assessment tool have been: the search for differentiation and quality of companies in the sector, regulations focused on decarbonisation, end-user interest in healthy and environmentally responsible assets.
